Read the passage and answer the question. (1) Before 2020, working from home was a privilege enjoyed by a small minority of employees. Then the COVID-19 pandemic forced millions of office workers to set up desks in their bedrooms and kitchens almost overnight. Several years later, many companies have kept some form of remote or "hybrid" work, in which employees divide their week between home and the office. (2) Supporters point to clear advantages. Employees save the time and money they once spent commuting. Many also say they can concentrate better without the interruptions of a busy office. Companies, meanwhile, can reduce spending on office space and hire talented people who live far from their headquarters. Surveys consistently find that most remote workers would like to keep the option. (3) The picture is not entirely positive, however. Some studies suggest that fully remote employees, especially new and young ones, miss out on the informal learning that happens when they can watch experienced colleagues at work. Teamwork and creativity may also suffer when every conversation has to be scheduled as a video call. Moreover, without a clear boundary between home and work, some people find themselves answering emails late into the night. (4) For these reasons, many organisations are experimenting with balanced arrangements. A common model asks staff to come to the office two or three days a week for meetings and collaboration, while leaving the other days for focused individual work. In my opinion, this hybrid approach is the most sensible solution, because it combines the flexibility of home with the human contact of the office.
